100 Second Pledge – Road Safety
I.T. Transport pledges to lead the charge in achieving the new UN Global Plan’s goal to cut road deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030. Calling on other consulting firms to join.
Within the last week, the new United Nations (UN) Global Plan for the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 has been released, with the explicit target of reducing road deaths and injuries by at least 50% during that period.
The Plan calls on Governments and other global stakeholders, including the private sector, to choose between “business as usual”, in the hope that this will be enough to significantly reduce the number of deaths, or to act boldly and decisively, using the tools and knowledge gained from the last Decade of Action to change course.
This is why we are proud to say that I.T. Transport is pledging to be the first company to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the UN on achieving this target, and that we are going on the record to say that if we are appointed as Road Safety Consultants on any serious road safety project in any Low or Middle Income Country (L&MICs), that we will guarantee that the measures we propose to cut casualty rates, if followed properly, will do so by 50% or more.
We are now calling on the CEOs or Managing Directors of all other Consulting Companies working in road safety in L&MICs to go on the record and to make the same Pledge, or to explain why they can’t.
So let’s do it!
Thank you.
