With a nod to its vehicle building past, ITT has entered itself into a Soapbox Derby Race in its hometown of Wolverhampton on the 21st of August 2022. ITT will be raising money for Brake, the road safety charity, and also be raising wider awareness of the Road Safety problem in general, which regular followers of us will know, kills around 1.35 million people a year internationally.
As well as advocating for Road Safety Globally, Brake provides support for survivors and bereaved relatives of road crash victims, and our association for Brake at this event is as much about raising awareness that help is available for you if you have been seriously injured, or have lost someone close to you in a crash.
The race itself, Krazy Races, is a national touring event in the U.K., featuring both the race event itself and a range of fun activities for adults and children alike on the day. It was created to raise funds for charities through sponsorship and donation, whilst having as much fun as possible along the way. The objective of the race is to finish the racecourse in the fastest possible time, and to impress the judges with the creative flair of both the vehicles and teams. In our case, the ITT Team and its vehicle will both have a strong and highly visible road safety theme.
We have decided to aim to raise £1,350 GBP, in recognition of the 1.35 million people killed every year on our roads worldwide. We are also raising this money in the memory of our colleague, Fratelius Fidelis, who was killed in a car crash back in August 2020. We all miss and often think about Fratelius, particularly when we are continuing to work on projects which are aiming to improve road safety worldwide and striving to prevent further loss of life on our roads.
If you would like to sponsor us, you can do so here via the Just Giving Page: https://lnkd.in/gNvzXQ2s. Every penny matters, so please do not feel that if you have only a small amount to give that it doesn’t count – it really does.
We hope to see you on the day supporting us, and if you want any more information please get in touch!
